My favorite monster movie of all time is Frankenstein (1931). It didn't follow the book by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley as closely as some later movies did, but the inspired casting and direction took the movie to a whole new level. It's brilliance led me to watch its many sequels and remakes throughout the following years. This book is a handy reference book for identifying them. Not all have "Frankenstein" in their titles, so this book helps highlight those films that are based on Ms. Shelley's novel that don't give her the credit she deserves.The book was published in 1995, so an updated edition that adds 22 years of further moviemaking history would be a welcome addition to one's monster reference library.
